Working at Voet: “Here, you truly help build the energy solutions of tomorrow”
Since the beginning of this year, Peter van Tussenbroek has been part of the Voet team as a Technical Specialist. Peter was already familiar with Voet; for years, he worked with us to rent generators and other equipment for various projects. In his current role, he gets to do exactly what gives him energy: solving technical challenges and contributing ideas about the future of smart energy solutions.
From smart technology to practical solutions
As a Technical Specialist, Peter works with his colleagues to make our energy solutions smarter, more efficient and more sustainable. He develops control software, improves existing machines and ensures that generators, battery systems, mobile fast chargers and load banks work together optimally. “We purchase high-quality (standard) products, but we’re always looking for ways to get even more out of them. That’s how we make our solutions smarter, more efficient and better tailored to real-world applications.” That doesn’t automatically mean existing equipment has to be replaced. In fact, by further developing machines and systems, they can often last for many more years. “Instead of replacing everything, we also look at how we can make existing products smarter and more sustainable.”
It’s that diversity that makes the work interesting. “Every situation is different. A customer never faces exactly the same challenge. That means you have to keep rethinking the best solution.” In doing so, Peter looks beyond just the technology. First, he wants to understand what a customer or colleague is really struggling with. From there, he looks for a solution that works in reality. “That’s actually what I’ve been doing my entire career and I get to do it here every day.”
Building the future together
According to Peter, the best solutions don’t just come from sitting at a desk, but rather from collaborating with colleagues in the workshop. “You can move faster on your own, but you go further together.” That’s why he regularly checks in with the service technicians. What challenges are they facing? What could be improved? And where are there opportunities to use existing systems more intelligently? Their real-world experiences form an important foundation for new developments and improvements.
According to Peter, this way of collaborating fits perfectly with Voet’s culture. “We’re a small, close team where you’re given a lot of freedom and can adapt quickly. Do you have a good idea? Then you can actually do something with it.” Thanks to the short lines of communication, ideas can be quickly turned into concrete solutions and don’t get shelved. That not only makes the work challenging but also ensures that Peter immediately sees the impact of his work.
