Working at Voet: from Logistics Employee to Project Engineer
Just over two and a half years ago, Sjoerd started working at Voet as a logistics employee. He learned about our company through a former colleague and after spending a day with the team, he knew right away that Voet was the right fit for him. He now works as a Project Engineer and serves as a key link between the office and the field staff.

During his time as a logistics employee, Sjoerd regularly supported field technicians. By gaining hands-on experience and completing internal training programs, he grew into his current role as a Project Engineer. These days, he visits clients, plans projects and makes sure his colleagues are well-prepared to get to work. His broad experience comes in handy every day in his current role: “I know what the work is like in the warehouse and in the field, but also what needs to be taken care of in the office. That allows you to better understand and connect both sides.”
According to Sjoerd, Voet doesn’t just look at degrees, but above all at motivation, commitment and the desire to learn. “If you show that you want something and go for it, you’ll really get opportunities here. They help you think through your education and development.” He sees these opportunities not only for himself but also for colleagues who have continued to grow within the company over the years.
Variety and a down-to-earth company culture
What appeals to Sjoerd most about his work is the variety. One day he’s out visiting clients; the next, he’s busy with project preparations, phone calls or malfunctions. “I couldn’t just sit behind a laptop all day. Interacting with people, switching between different tasks and being on the go every now and then - that’s what gives me energy.”
He also appreciates the open and approachable culture at Voet. Colleagues are there for each other, communication lines are short and even management remains accessible. “Rick and John aren’t standing above the organization; they’re right in the middle of it, among the people. That makes it a pleasure to work together.” According to Sjoerd, appreciation is often found in the little things: a 'thank you' at the end of the day, colleagues helping each other and the opportunity to further develop yourself.
