Thanks to our innovative approach and close collaboration with partners Klever Boor- en Perstechnieken and AVIA VOLT, we are delivering a solution that not only minimizes on-site emissions but also drastically reduces the impact of transport and energy supply.

At the project site in Bornerbroek, everything — from the drilling machine to the supporting equipment — had to be fully electric. This required a significant amount of energy: no less than 6 megawatts per day.

Our Approach:

  • Energy Hubs: At both the entry and exit points of the drilling operation, we set up temporary energy hubs.

  • At the entry point, where the drilling rig was located, we built an energy hub consisting of six 420 kWh battery systems. Here, electric loaders, a fast charger, and a transformer ensured that all equipment could be connected to the temporary power grid we created on-site.

  • At the exit point, we also installed a battery setup to power the necessary equipment.

  • Mobile Battery Fleet: With 16 battery systems, we provided a flexible solution that delivers energy without emissions.

During the pilot in Breda, the focus was on scope 1: zero-emission operations on-site. At that time, we transported battery systems back and forth between Culemborg and the project location. We have now further optimized that process.

For this project, we partnered with AVIA VOLT. They are currently equipping all of their fuel stations with charging plazas. In Enter, near the project site, they have set up a charging plaza with a powerful 1750 kVA transformer connection.

How Does It Work?

  • In Enter, we set up a charging plaza with three battery containers.

  • These containers are swapped between the project site in Bornerbroek and the charging plaza.

  • The result: fewer transport kilometers and a more efficient energy supply.

Another advantage of our collaboration with AVIA VOLT is that the truck transporting our batteries can directly refuel with HVO100. This also reduces emissions in the transport process.

Step by Step: Creating Impact in Scopes 1, 2, and 3

At Voet, we look beyond zero-emission operations on-site. Our goal is to reduce the footprint across all scopes:

  • Scope 1: Reducing on-site emissions with our battery setups and energy hubs.

  • Scope 2: Minimizing emissions from our energy supply thanks to the charging plaza in Enter and shorter transport distances.

  • Scope 3: By 2025, we expect to deploy a fully electric fleet of service vehicles and transport equipment, while also developing 1000 kWh and 1200 kWh battery systems. This will enable us to achieve an even smaller footprint for our clients and partners.

Working Together Toward a Zero-Emission Future

This project shows that through collaboration and innovation, we can continue to improve our energy solutions and make transport more efficient. Together, we are taking steps toward zero-emission operations in scopes 1, 2, and 3. With our new facilities, new battery fleet, and close partnerships, we remain committed to our mission: creating the smallest footprint with the greatest impact.
