Brand-New Test Facility
At the beginning of this month, we commissioned our new test facility. At Voet, we strive for the best possible results. To ensure this level of quality, we carry out regular maintenance on all our generators, and our technicians participate in training and education programs. Starting this year (2019), we also have a dedicated test location specifically for synchronous grid transfers.
Every day, we perform synchronous grid transfers across the Netherlands. This work demands extreme precision, quality, and reliability from our machines. To maintain this high standard, we have built a dedicated test and training facility at our new location. Thanks to this permanent setup, we can train our technicians in-house and run test operations on our generators, ensuring they are always ready for emergencies.
We can now test against the power grid using a 630 kVA transformer, enabling us to test almost all functions of the synchronous generator/battery package. In February of this year, we will also put the solar roof at our new Culemborg location into use. We aim to use our energy responsibly, but this solar roof also offers advantages for our test facility.
In the power grid, we increasingly encounter local energy generation, such as solar panels and wind turbines. While this is a positive development, it can sometimes cause problems for generators or battery packs. With our solar roof, we can observe—and test—exactly how our generators respond to energy being fed back into the grid. This allows us to fine-tune the protections in the Deif controller and activate the RPS (Reverse Power System) step by step at the right time.
